About Emma Gosling

Independent Occupational Therapist

Hello, I'm Emma Gosling, founder of Momentum Occupational Therapy.

Making positive differences in the lives of children, young people and families drives my practice as an Occupational Therapist. I specialise in providing assessment and interventions to individuals that experience challenges arising from:

• Autism Spectrum Conditions

• ADHD, focus and attention difficulties

• Attachment disorders

• PDA, conduct, emotional regulation difficulties

• Learning disabilities​

• Sensory processing issues

• Neurodevelopmental disorders

• Motor skills problems

I recognise the challenges faced by children, young adults and their and families at significant times of transition such as starting school, moving on to college/university or work. 

I pride myself on sustaining high standards of professional conduct and demonstrate a compassionate approach to managing sensitive issues arising from complex needs and challenges. Delivering evidenced-based approaches is core to my practice. My recent professional development and training includes:

• Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) 

  • Sensory Attachment Intervention, two-day update 

  • Comprehensive Assessment in Ayres Sensory Integration Module Two, CLASI

  • Attachment and developmental trauma: Sensory Attachment Intervention (Éadaoin Bhreathnach), Attachment and Psychopathology (Dr. Patricia Crittenden), Child Trauma: Connectedness, Emotional Regulation and The Polyvagal Theory (Dr. Stephen W. Porges)

• Ayres Sensory Integration: Level One-Foundations of Neuroscience

• Positive Behaviour Support Model and Active Support

• Legislation and practice standards associated with mental capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards.

Since 1999, my career has been shaped by my roles in private, statutory and charitable organisations that deliver residential, vocational, recreational and educational provision to children and adults with disabilities.


After obtaining a degree in Occupational Therapy in 2007 I have developed my clinical skills in a variety of services in the U.K. and in New Zealand, including:​

• Specialist Perinatal Occupational Therapist in a NHS Perinatal Mental Health Service

• Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist in a clinical team at a residential school for children with ASD.

• Conducting sensory assessments for a children's charity Sensory Integration Service. 

• ASD Communication and Behaviour Service. Providing assessment and intervention to children and delivering parent education programs following a diagnosis of ASD.

•  Complex Behaviour Support Team completing Functional Analysis of Behaviour assessments of adults with learning disabilities presenting with challenging behaviour.

• Local authority Transitions Service for 13-25 year olds; focusing on supporting young people with additional needs through the transition from children's to adult services.

• Local authority Adult Social Care Team, providing occupational therapy assessment for adults with neurological conditions, spinal injuries, acquired brain injuries and amputations.
